A Pretty Odd Bunny (review)

Nov 11, 2021

A red-eyed rabbit who eats pigs? Ya sounds pretty odd to me. A Pretty Odd Bunny is a 2D colorful stealth platformer that sells itself on that concept alone. With some fun gameplay and humorous antics. There are worse ways to spend a few bucks.

Platform your way through 4 worlds and over 80 plus levels

Gameplay

Check your story/plot expectations at the door with Pretty Odd Bunny. Gameplay is king. The bunny has simple mechanics. He can jump, crouch, and dig his way through the levels. Fairly simple platforming is used throughout the game, with the difficulty ramping up the more the game progresses. Each world (in which there are 4) has there own mechanic. Whether it be jumping on a clam shell on a beach. Or digging underground in an underground mine setting. Having the different mechanics over the 4 worlds will help keep the game as fresh as possible. It was repetitive after a while even with the differences too.

The game may look simple, but it can be frustratingly difficult as well. Birds, carrots, pigs, and more get in your way. They all bring to the table a different level of difficulty. This isn’t Dark Souls level difficult, but rather compare it to Super Mario. The array of difficulty is helped by the different ways in which the level will be finished. Again the game looks simple, but hiding behind a bush, or inside a hollowed-out log to evade the watchful eyes of other rabbits, makes the game fun as heck to pick up and play.

Overall Enjoyment

Incredibly low expectations going into this game helped a lot. With a selling feature of a red eyed bunny eating pigs as the description. Go in thinking its just that. You will enjoy the bright and colorful landscapes. The sounds are so so, but with the crunch of a pigs head, or a bunny being devoured, that’s pure enjoyment. The 4 worlds and 80 plus levels will give you a few hours of fun. Once you get the hang of the gameplay and the enemy’s tendencies, the game will fly by.
