In an interview with Pride Source, Margot Robbie revealed she has been trying to, or rather wanting to, introduce Poison Ivy and explore her and Harley’s romantic relationship on the film side of DC.
“If you read the comics you know that Poison Ivy and Harley have an intimate relationship. In some comics they convey it as a friendship; in other comics you can see that they’re actually sexually involved as a couple,” she says, acknowledging that the duo are married in the comics.
She expands, talking about her efforts to find a place for Ivy in the movies. “I’ve been trying to – I would love to have Poison Ivy thrown into the universe, because the Harley and Poison Ivy relationship is one of my favorite aspects of the comics, so I’m looking to explore that on screen.”
In regards to casting, Margot didn’t throw any names out there. “You know what? I’ve thought about it a lot and there’s no one person who springs to mind. I’m pretty open-minded.”
With ‘Gotham City Sirens’ and ‘Harley vs Joker’ still in development, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Ivy show up sooner rather than later.
Robbie’s next outing as Harley Quinn will be the girl-gang team up movie ‘Birds of Prey,’ which is currently set to release on February 7, 2020.
