Comicpalooza took place this past weekend in Houston at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Many guests came from all over the world to see some highly anticipated panels such as the Aliens 30th Anniversary Panel, Kate Beckinsale’s panel, the Boondocks Saints panel and the return of Charlie Hunnam. There was so many amazing things to check out this weekend, it’s a shame that it’s already over.

My recap:

The third annual Marvel Vs DC Photo shoot took place Saturday during the convention. The previous two years took place outside in 90+ degree weather. This time around, the photo shoot took place in one of the convention’s rooms. Tons of characters ranging from Harley Quinn, Iron Man, Wonder Woman, Doctor Strange and Poison Ivy were in attendance. Check out the gallery during the Photo shoot below, if you see yourself in any of the photos, let us know in the comments below. I was cosplaying as Green Lantern (Jessica Cruz).

Charlie Hunnam made an appearance, not only to make it up to the fans who were previously royally screwed by Space City Comic Con, but he also nearly hung out at his booth for the entire duration to allow fans to stop by and say hello. It was amazing. Prior to me taking a photo with him, there was a lovely little girl in front of me, who was a bit tongue tied upon meeting Charlie. The interaction I witnessed between Hunnam and her made me have so much more respect for him than I already had. He stopped to chat with the entire family, asked if she would like any additional autographed photos. It was beautiful. He was great. Of course, I got a photo with him as well. Although, majority of his fans praise him for his role on Sons of Anarchy, I had to compliment him from his Undeclared days.

Another amazing highlight from the weekend was being approached by Jody Houser, the writer for Valiant Comic’s Faith. (By the way, I had not read Faith prior to meeting her, I picked up Faith #1 and loved it.) She mentioned she had to get a photo of my cosplay for her friend Sam. She mentioned it so casually, it wasn’t until we spoke for a few minutes that we realized she was referring to Sam Humphries, the current writer for Green Lanterns. This was amazing. Not only that, but Sam left me a lovely tweet that also made my day.

One of the most anticipated panels this weekend celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Aliens franchise. Daniel Kash, Cynthia Scott,  Ricco Ross, Mark Rolston, Jenette Goldstein, Carrie Henn, William Hope, Michael Biehn, Paul Reiser, Bill Paxton, and Sigourney Weaver were all in attendance. Check out my highlights from the Aliens 30th Anniversary panel.

Another great panel that took place over the weekend, featured the lovely Kate Beckinsale. Check out my highlights from Kate Beckinsale’s Panel.

We also ran into our new friend of the site, Comic Book Men’s Ming Chen. He was awesome and was just as starstruck as the rest of us seeing Sigourney Weaver. He told us his mission, before the end of the convention, was to get a photo with Sigourney, which he did! Don’t forget to check Danny’s interview with him before the con.

Comicpalooza is one of my favorite conventions to attend. They have a great variety of guests, the venue is perfect and most importantly, the convention was very well organized. Thank you Comicpalooza for an amazing weekend! Here’s to next year.
