UPDATE 01/7/20: Carlton Cuse publicity has reached out and informed Geeks Worldwide that Morten Tyldum is NOT attached to Hulu’s ‘Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy’!
As previously reported, there’s currently a TV series adaptation of the comedy sci-fi classic novels ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy’ in development at Hulu. Carlton Cuse (‘Lost,’ ‘Jack Ryan’) will be co-showrunning with Jason Fuchs (‘Ice Age: Continental Drift,’ ‘Wonder Woman’). They are both writers on the show, with Fuchs penning the pilot.
We now have details on the upcoming series, as we at the GWW have exclusively learned the following:
- Production is set to start this summer in Elstree Studios, United Kingdom.
- You’ll need to wait a bit longer to see it though, because the show is premiering next year, 2021.
- ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy’ will air exclusively on Hulu in the United States, with it being distributed internationally by FOX.
Director Morten Tyldum (‘Headhunters,’ ‘The Imitation Game’) is set to direct.- This show will not be a limited series, because there are multiple seasons planned.
It does not look like the series will have any relation to the 2005 film from director Garth Jennings.
The Hulu series follows the intergalactic adventures of Arthur Dent, a hapless Englishman, following the destruction of Earth by the Vogons, a race of unpleasant and bureaucratic aliens.
