Today, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Game of Thrones alum Joseph Mawle has joined the cast of Amazon’s Lord of the Rings. He is remembered in Game of Thrones as Benjen Stark of the Nights Watch. However, he is now believed to playing the main antagonist Oren in the straight-to-series for Amazon. This show is expected to take place during the Second Age of Middle-Earth before the War of the Ring.
Joseph Mawle joins Will Poulter (Black Mirror: Bandersnatch) and Australian actress Markella Kavenagh. J.A. Bayona (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) is set to direct the first two episodes and executive produce.
The Lord of the Rings will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime
