The writer behind the comic turned Netflix story Sweet Tooth, Jeff Lemire has inked an exclusive deal with Image Comics. With a deep backlist including such titles as Ascender and Family Tree, Lemire is no stranger to the publishers lineup. Now fans can expect for Image to be home of one of comics best selling creators for years to come.

Regarding the deal Lemire states:

“Having worked with Image on so many projects over the last decade, I’ve come to appreciate the complete creative freedom and support that they’ve provided me,”

John Lemire

Impact on Image

While we await additional information what this deal does mean is that readers can expect a number of soon to be announced projects. While some titles will be solo projects, written and drawn by Lemire, others will see the award winning creator collaborate with artists new-to-Image. We already know that in March we will see the writer re-team with artist Dustin Nguyen for Little Monster. Lemire will also be working work once again with Andrea Sorrentino, the two having previously worked together on Primordial. The Bone Yard will see the two bringing a shared horror mythos to life.

In addition to Sweet Tooth, some of Lemire’s other work seems to have caught the eye of Hollywood. Many of the titles in the creator’s catalog are already lined up including Family Tree with Orion. Meanwhile, Lemire’s Underwater Welder is currently in the hands of Waypoint with Ryan Gosling set to produce. It will be interesting to see what Lemire will create with Image.

“I’m excited to make Image the exclusive home for all my projects in the years to come, both solo projects that I will draw myself, and my various collaborations.

John Lemire

It looks like Image is the home for this writer and artist for 2022 and beyond. TheGWW.com will be on the lookout for any additional announcements of titles from that result from this deal.

Hard to figure out where to begin to describe yourself when you don't feel you've even started. I'm thankful for the chance to write about the things that keep the kid in me still searching for that answer.
