Kama Yamamoto – The Man Behind The Flag Samurai
Kama Yamamoto is a Japanese artist who helped create unique anime samurai based on the flag of all the countries participating in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
This creative project was completed by Kama to share Japanese culture and demonstrate how much he values diversity, along with:
- Saki (Manga),
- Kake Hina (Four-frame cartoon),
- Nosuke Otaki Rikko (Illustrator)
- Muraicchi Kisugae (Color) .
By combining Japanese culture with the cultures of other countries, Yamamoto and his team were able to create images that turned each nation’s flag into a Samurai. Each one complete with unique powers and characteristics, from Russia’s snowflake warrior to Morocco’s sword-wielding lioness!
Press about the project is inaccurate
Although the press around the project has increased with the Olympic coverage, the World Flags project has nothing to do with Tokyo 2020.
The depth and objectives of this project are more powerful and impactful than most news coverage has given it – Kama Yamamoto is clear that it’s a “World Peace Project” that goes beyond education.
The goal of this project was not only to create a conversation around what it means to be united, but also about how nations can work together in an effort for peace and prosperity. It is their belief that the cooperation of nations, in areas of disaster relief projects and economics, will generate tremendous power.
